Rooted in history, Sutton was first settled in 1821 when James O’Brien Bourchier built saw and grist mills there. Originally names Bourchier’s Mills and renamed Sutton West in 1885, the village is bound by Highway 48 to the south, Lake Simcoe to the north, Black River along the east and over just west of Dalton Road.
